What is MomHub?

What kind of content is already on there?
We are focusing our initial launch on Portland, but we have plans to expand nationwide. For the Portland launch you can find information about over 600 coffee shops, playgrounds and kid-friendly places and products to try.
Who is behind MomHub?
MomHub is the first online media network created by Parental Ventures, founded by our small team of parents. We share the joys and pains of parenthood, so we know how valuable a parent's time is and how there is never enough time to get everything done. We also know how meaningful and beneficial it can be to connect with other parents and learn from their insights, advice and experience.
How did it originate?
As active playgroup participants, the founders observed the power of word-of-mouth advice that is exchanged between parents about helpful tips, such as a new coffee shop to visit or a new stroller to check out. Every parent seemed to have his or her special stash of information and no central place to share it in an effective way. MomHub was created to make it easier for local parents to exchange this type of information beyond the usual bulletin board or forum. MomHub also makes provides an easier way for local and national vendors to offer their products and services to local moms.
How much does MomHub cost?
MomHub is free for parents. We know that parents are always short on time. We want to create a fast and accessible resource to make parenting a little easier and more fun. We will offer advertising and upgraded listings for vendors who want to communicate with parents in a new way.
What is the relationship between MomHub and DadHub?
Both sites are services created and managed by Parental Ventures LLC. The sites will offer many of the same resources, but will enable parents to filter the information based on their perspective.
Can I use MomHub if I already have a YahooGroup, Meetup or other existing group?
While our system is certainly capable of making it easy to manage a mom group or playgroup, we welcome any existing groups to create listings so they can promote their membership, activities and resources. You can include the URL to your website as part of your group's listing on MomHub.
Can I list my business on MomHub?
We encourage business owners of all types to create a listing on MomHub. A basic listing is free and includes all of the information a parent would need to find details about your business.
What technology is it built on?
The MomHub community is built on various open source platforms including Drupal and LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP).
What's next for MomHub?
We will expand MomHub to additional cities and will add features to make moms lives a little easier.
