About MomHub
What is MomHub?
MomHub is a web service that lets you find and form playgroups, find new kid-friendly places and rate your favorite products.
How much does MomHub cost?
MomHub is free for parents. We know that as a parent you are always short on time. We want to create a fast and accessible resource to make your life a little easier and more fun. We will offer advertising and upgraded listings to brands and other vendors who want to communicate with parents in a new way.
Why have advertising on the site?
We will make every effort so that these advertisers are relevant and meaningful to your role as a parent. We dislike sites with blinking banners and intrusive advertising messages as much as you do. As parents ourselves, we want to create a good experience for our visitors and will limit advertising to key areas of the site.
We want MomHub and DadHub to be a successful sustainable business that can continue to provide meaningful and useful services to parents for a long time. By providing opportunities for vendors and brands to advertise their offerings, we will continue to offer MomHub and DadHub free to parents.
What is the relationship between MomHub and DadHub?
Both sites are services created and managed by Parental Ventures LLC. The sites will offer many of the same resources, but will enable parents to filter the information based on their perspective.
Getting Started
How do I get started quickly?
Review the Getting Started guide.
How do I create a Group, Activity or Blog posting?
Click on Group or Activities in the blue navigation bar across the page. Alternatively you can always use the Create drop down menu on the left side of every page except the home page, where this feature is located in the upper right corner.
How do I rate an Activity, Place or Product & Service?
Just click to the page for the item you want to review and then click Write a Review at the bottom of the page. Enter your rating and review. You can always go back and change your response, but know that your contribution will benefit other parents looking for a parents perspective on these vendors.
Using MomHub
How do I change my password?
Go to your account and click on Request New Password. Enter your user name or your email and you will receive an email with a new password. Be sure to update you password after you log in again.
How do I change my user name?
Go to your account and click Edit to update your account settings, including user name and password.
What happens when I change my location?
We have designed MomHub to focus on a local area that you choose. When you change your location, you will stay subscribed to all of your current groups and activities. However, you will likely see new Groups, Activities and Places to Go that are found in your new location. Our database of resources will be filtered for your new location of choice so you can focus on items in your area.
What if my location is not listed?
We have included a nationwide database of zipcodes but for simplicity we have limited the auto fill feature to the top 250 areas, based on number zip code in that area. Please email us at info@momhub.com if you want us to make sure that your area is included in the list.
What are tags?
Tags are an easy way for you to organize your information and make it easier for others to do the same. Think of tags as categories, except you can assign as many tags as you want to a group, activity, place, product or blog post. To use tags, just enter them in the field on any form where they are available. Use a comma to separate individual tags. For example, you could tag your twin group in the Pearl District of Portland as "twins, multiples, Pearl District."
Is my information secure?
MomHub is hosted in a secure data center and we have taken precautions so that your private groups and personal information stay private. Like any online system, it is important that you not provide your password to others if you do not want them to access your account.
Groups
What if I don't have a playgroup?
Not a problem. Use our search features to find groups that are open to new members or find other parents looking to form a group.
While we want to encourage parents to find new ways to connect, we also want MomHub and DadHub to be valuable to parents without groups. Feel free to use our Places and Products sections even if you do not have a group.
What if I have a Yahoo Group or Meetup Group?
We welcome existing Yahoo Groups to create a group on MomHub or DadHub. We think you will find our services to be more efficient and appropriate for playgroups and other parenting-centric organizations. Unlike Yahoo Groups, we have tightly integrated a collection of places and products and services to save you a lot of searching time for aspects of the parenting experience.
Meetup groups are also used for playgroups, but they have found more success with large groups. We want MomHub and DadHub to be just as effective for smaller neighborhood playgroups as they are for larger membership organizations. You also won't find collections and ratings of places and products on Meetup.
Feel free to link to your existing Yahoo Group or Meetup Group from within any group you create on our site.
My group already has a web site, can I integrate it with MomHub?
Absolutely. When you create a group in MomHub or DadHub there is a field for you to enter your group's existing web address. This is a great way to promote your group or membership club to a new population of parents.
What are some tips for starting a playgroup?
What are some tips for getting the most out of a playgroup?
We are creating a collection of tips for organizing or being a part of successful playgroups. Share your tips with us. We would love to hear what works for you.
My parenting club wants to have a group on MomHub. How can I keep the look consistent with my web site?
We welcome existing groups to augment their existing websites or Yahoo Groups with a MomHub group. There is no charge for starting or running a group so create as many as you need.
Right now we do not enable the look of the website to change for each group. Let us know if that is a feature that is important to your group.
Activities
What is an activity?
Activities can be everything from an existing event at a museum to the next meeting of your playgroup. Activities are typically associated with specific groups. This enables you to keep your activity information and your group's schedule private. Activities will adopt the privacy permissions of the group they are associated with. For example, if it's a playgroup meeting then only members of your playgroup can see this information. However if an activity is associated with a public group then everyone can see this event.
How can members of my group sign-up for an activity?
Any member of a group associated with an activity can sign up for that activity. When you create an Activity you have the option of inviting members explicitly with an invitation that they can RSVP to or you can choose the option where members of your group can sign-up without an invitation.
Places to Go
What if I want to add a Place?
We encourage you to add Places to our system. Your knowledge about kid-friendly places around town will help all of the parents who use MomHub just as you are benefiting from the items that other parents have added.
If you own a restaurant, play area or are involved in a place that is kid-friendly, feel free to add a basic Places listing for free. We will offer opportunities to upgrade your listing to make it even more valuable for parents and therefore more effective for attracting new customers to your site.
