Getting Started

We want you to get off to a fast start with MomHub. This page is a brief overview on how to become an active member of the MomHub community. For more detailed instructions, please visit our MomHub 101 series on Groups, Activities, Places, Products & Services.

• Sign up for the MomHub Mix, an email newsletter, to get updates on new items listed on MomHub.
• Create new content (groups, activities, places, products) with the Create drop down menu located just below the green bar in the left column on all pages
• If you own a restaurant, bakery, coffee shop, gym or other place that moms may want to meet at, be sure to List your Place
• If you own a store that sells to parents or your company has a product or service that would benefit parents, please List your Product or Service

1. Use the Create drop down menu on any page to create a blog post, group, activity, place, or product & service listing.

2. This is the My Hub section. You will find all your MomHub items in this area.

3.  This is the main part of the page. You can see a list of Recent (based on time it was entered) or Popular (based on ratings) items. You will also see the detail views of any item in this section of the page.

4. You can search from any page via this search box.

Groups

Find a group
You may want to Search for groups in your neighborhood. If you want to find groups that share your philosophy on parenting or perhaps you have some other topic that you care about, try our Directory of Groups.

Find other parents looking to join or form groups
Join a Looking for a Playgroup group. For example here's one for Portland.

Join an existing group
Once you have found a group you want to join, just click Subscribe. If it's an "open" group you will be added as a member immediately. If it's a "moderated" or "request" group, clicking on Subscribe will initiate the process of membership. The group coordinator will then take the next steps of approving your membership in the group.

Set up a MomHub group for an existing group

• Create a Group
• Enter information about your group
• Upload a logo or image if you want it displayed on your group's page
• Include tags so that other people can more easily find or identify what your group is about (multiples, attachment parenting, anything goes). Check out our Directory of Groups for inspiration
• Enter your group's existing website address if it has one

Invite people to join your group
Once you have formed a group, send out an invitation for others to join your group. You will find this feature, as well as several others, in your group's menu in the left column.

Activities

What is an activity?
Activities are like events. They can be a private meeting or a public get together.

Find an activity
You may want to Search for activities in your neighborhood. You can also see a listing of any activities on your group's page. You can find these pages in the My Groups menu in the right column.

Create an activity
Create an activity and enter the details about your activity including date, time and description. Enter the Place you will be meeting. If the Place is already in MomHub it will show up as you are typing. If it doesn't, please Create a Place.

Places to Go

Find places to go
You may want to Search for places in your neighborhood.

Create a Place listing
List your Place This could be a place of business or even your house. If it's your house, be sure to mark it so only members of your group can see this information.

Write a review
Go to the listing for the Place you want to review. Click on "Share Your Opinion" to rate the place and include your review.

Find products & services
You may want to Search for products & services.

Create a products & services listing
List your Product or Service so that other parents can find out what you have to offer.

Write a review

Blog

Write a blog post
Create a Blog Post or use the Create drop down menu in the left column of every page to select Blog Post. Enter the details of your entry and indicate whether your post is public, private or viewable by a group.
